INFORMATION FOR WOMEN ABOUT HEPATITIS A AND HEPATITIS A VACCINE DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING
Description: What is the hepatitis A vaccine?
Hepatitis A vaccine is an injection given to train the immune system to recognize and defend against the hepatitis A virus (HAV). The vaccine is administered as two injections, given six months apart. Alternatively, you can opt for a combined vaccine against both HAV and hepatitis B virus (HBV). This combined HAV/HAB vaccine requires more doses, and more time, however. Either you can have three injections, spread over a six-month period, or you can have three injections within one month, followed by a booster twelve months later.
