THE SAFETY OF FENTANYL DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING
THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Fentanyl should not be taken during pregnancy unless the benefits of treatment outweigh the potential risks to the baby. Human studies that have looked at the safety of fentanyl during pregnancy suggest this medication may be harmful to the developing baby. Long-term use of fentanyl during pregnancy can increase the risk of newborns developing neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome.
