THE SAFETY OF DICLOFENAC SODIUM TOPICAL GEL (VOLTAREN) DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING
THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY:
Diclofenac gel should be avoided during the third trimester of pregnancy because of the increased risk of premature closure of the baby's ductus arteriosus, an artery that must remain open during pregnancy but close after the baby is born so that blood can flow to the lungs and give the baby enough oxygen. The use of diclofenac gel is not recommended while breastfeeding.
