THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Welchol (colesevelam) should only be taken during pregnancy if medically necessary, as determined by your doctor. No sufficient or well-controlled studies have looked at the safety of colesevelam during pregnancy. Colesevelam could cause vitamin deficiencies in expecting moms that may increase the risk of birth defects or developmental abnormalities in the baby.
