THE SAFETY OF MODURETIC (AMILORIDE/HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE) DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING

THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Moduretic (amiloride/hydrochlorothiazide) should only be used during pregnancy if medically necessary, as determined by your doctor. Diuretics, like amiloride/hydrochlorothiazide, may reduce total blood volume in expecting moms, which could interfere with your baby’s normal growth and development. Taking diuretics while pregnant can also lead to many different health problems in babies, including thrombocytopenia, low blood sugar, low sodium, and low heart rate.
