THE SAFETY OF LOVENOX (ENOXAPARIN) DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING

THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Enoxaparin should only be used during pregnancy if medically necessary, as determined by your doctor. This medication can cause bleeding complications, which could harm both mother and baby. Additionally, a preservative in some formulations of enoxaparin can cause a potentially deadly condition called “gasping syndrome” in the developing baby. Enoxaparin may be a life-saving medication for some women. In these cases, your doctor may determine that the benefits of treatment with enoxaparin outweigh the potential risks to your baby. If enoxaparin is medically necessary, it is recommended to use a preservative-free formulation.
