THE SAFETY OF INSPRA (EPLERENONE) DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING

THIS MEDICATION CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Eplerenone should only be used during pregnancy if medically necessary and if the benefits of treatment outweigh the potential risks to the baby, as determined by your doctor. No sufficient studies have looked at the effects of eplerenone on the developing baby, and the data available on its use during pregnancy consists of only a few case reports. In general, aldosterone antagonists, such as eplerenone, are not recommended to treat high blood pressure in pregnancy and are not recommended for women who might get pregnant. These medications may interfere with your baby’s normal growth and development and cause other health problems in your baby.
