THE SAFETY OF  FRAGMIN (DALTEPARIN) DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING

THIS MEDICATION MAY CAUSE HARM TO YOUR BABY: Fragmin (dalteparin) should only be used during pregnancy if medically necessary, as determined by your doctor. Although the many studies done with this medication have not associated the use of dalteparin during pregnancy with health problems in developing babies, a preservative in some formulations of dalteparin could cause a potentially deadly condition, called “gasping syndrome.” If your doctor determines that dalteparin is medically necessary, it is recommended to use a preservative-free formulation.
