My first birth I wanted natural vaginal birth.  I wanted this throughout the entire pregnancy but when the day of deliverance came during the contractions and pushes I changed my mind in a matter of milliseconds.  LMFAO! I was like the hell with this!  I was screaming to give me the shot but it was all too late. LMFAOO.. I did end up delivering naturally.

Now with this birth............ I dunno.... I am 2.5 months in. Haven't decided.  I am just remembering the pain.

I had a vaginal as well. But I had a girlfriend who did at home water birth with all 3 of hers. They even had a photographer come in and photograph the whole experience. It was really beautiful! I just feel like that wasn't for me. But I have so much respect for the Mama's who can do home birth or no epidurals. You are stronger than I am!

Heather posted this 24 August 2018

Vaginal here as well. With an epidural. I was so grateful that I didnt have to have a C-section. That terrified me. I had never even been in a hospital until I gave birth. So it was an exciting and scary time!

I choose vaginal with epidural. You girls are strong!  The less pain the better.  I don't know what I feel about water birth.  To me, the concept is beautiful in my head and in movies but when it comes to the day of giving birth I will change my mind immediately.

I had vaginal with epidural. It went very well for me . It was a decision both me and husband made because I had back pains the whole pregnacy

Heather posted this 24 August 2018

I originally didn't want an epidural but as soon as I was there I decided that yes I needed it NOW! Though I had back labor so that wasn't helpful either. Though the only time I was relaxed through out the process was when they let me sit in the shower.. I can't imagine it was appealing to anyone else but I enjoyed it. I can see how it'd be less stressful in a bath to give birth though I don't know anyone personally that's done that.

Stacey posted this 24 August 2018

Unfortunately I had a last minute c-section. I too had the epidural! All of my family and friends who had the epidural kept telling me how it was no big deal, piece of cake, you won’t even know it’s happening —-ahhh wrong!!! Lol I don’t know if it was because I was so insanely nervous or what, but wow was that an awful excuse. Plus side, you don’t feel anything after it haha!

I had a planned c-section. I have twins and at my last appointment they were expecting hefty babies. One of them weighed 9.8lbs and the other 8.12 so I don’t think I would have preferred vaginal birth! How the two of them fit in my belly blows my mind! I was a heavy little chunk when I was born too so I should have expected it haha

Baby 1 was a vaginal birth. Didn’t want epidural but was induced and couldn’t relax. As soon as I received the epidural I was able to relax and baby came within the hour. Now baby 2 was totally natural. No epidural and I was induced. I ended up passing out for awhile which helped me relax. Both babies were born healthy and beautiful!

Lexi posted this 29 August 2018

My first I had to be induced and after days it ended up being a c-section which was really scary. For the second it also ended up being a c-section. It’s crazy because before all that I kept saying to myself there’s no way I could ever see myself or even handle getting a c-section, but now that that’s all I know, I can’t see myself being able to handle a vaginal birth.

Danielle posted this 29 August 2018

I had a vaginal birth. My little one ended up going to the 39 week mark and my water broke. I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared! Lol I got the epidural, and that helped so much. It was rough but I definitely think it could have been worse compared to others experiences.

Sherry posted this 29 August 2018

I have had c sections and will have another one with my current pregnancy.  The first one was an emergency situation and the healing took a lot longer than my second one which was a planned c section.  I hated that I was not able to delivery vaginally but it just wasn't working and I did not want to be back in that situation with the other 2 which is why they have both been planned c sections.  You do end up having to stay in the hospital longer with a c section and the recovery can take a little longer.  Trying not to giggle a few days after is hard...hurts so bad.

Casey posted this 29 August 2018

I would like to do vaginal with no epidural, mainly because I am not a needle person whatsoever, but I know I also have no pain tolerance so I haven't really decided yet. I have wondered a lot lately about the at home water births. When I first heard about them I was 100% against it, but the more photos I see, it seems like a really beautiful way to welcome your baby into this world, but also like many of you said, I'm sure I would change my mind at the last minute. I have comfort in knowing there is a doctor in the same room and I'm at a hospital if anything goes wrong.

Easy vaginal delivery with all 3. First had epidural, but it took them awhile to stick me and I hated feeling “shaky” afterwards. 2nd has no epidural but did have pitocin. 3rd had absolutely nothing...no IV or anything. Best delivery ever because I was able to move around a lot more.

Tara posted this 12 November 2018

I have had two natural vaginal deliveries, one with epidural and one non-epidural.

By far hands down the best experience was non-epidural. It was a quicker easier birth and although painful it was easier to tell how hard to push and when to push as opposed to being completely numb.

I have had 4 natural births. The first two I had some pain killers that just relax you in between contractions. I had back labor with my first and that was worse than actually pushing him out!! By the third and fourth my body just seemed to know what to do and the afterpains were worse than the labor IMO.

Dana posted this 17 November 2018

I want a natural birth, but I suspect I don't have enough courage or strength to not get pain medicine. I have a very low tolerance for pain. I could possibly deal with it if I knew when it would end, but because there's no timer on how long you have to endure those contractions, I don't think I can go through with a natural birth.

I see lots of "natural" and vaginal births here. Way to go ladies. So I represent the C-Section Mama's here! I delivered quadruplets and my MFM would not let me even attempt vaginal because she said the odds of everyone lining up and agreeing were so slim and she refused to make me endure both types of pain at once! I had hoped that my c-section would be scheduled but unfortunately, life had other plans and I went into labor unexpectedly. I delivered at 28 weeks and 5 days and had preclampsia when we went down to the OR. Thankfully, everyone did well and after 24 hours on magnesium, I got to go see my babies. It was almost a week later though, that I actually got to hold one of them!

I had a natural vaginal birth, and no regrets! You definitely have to mentally prepared, and it certainly helps to be physically prepared as well. Thinking about it as similar to a marathon or a long climb to the peak of a mountain really helps. As long as everything is normal, thinking about it as "hard work" (yeah it hurts, but it's not gonna kill you, and the end result is worth it) versus "pain" (this is harmful to my body and I might not be ok after this) was SUPER helpful for me. Also reading up on natural birth stories, the birth process, and basically being as informed as possible really helped me have a good idea of what to expect. Having my second soon and definitely aiming for another natural birth!

I've been debating on having a home birth! I have a friend who has 3 kids - the two older ones she had in the hospital, but she ended up having a home birth for the third. She said the home birth was the best experience. I'm just a little nervous! I had a normal vaginal delivery with my daughter. Definitely considering a home birth this time around, if I can get past my fears anyways 😬

This is my first and I'm definitely too nervous to go the home birth route, with not knowing how everything is going to go! I'm hoping for a vaginal delivery in our small hospital.

I wanted a normal delivery my first time around but it didn't happen.  I ended up with a c-section and I had never even given it a thought until I had to have one.  It took me by total surprise! For my second pregnancy, I hope to deliver vaginally.

I had an emergency C-section with my first and for my second wanted to try for a vbac but my hospital would not allow it.

We're in a new area now so hopefully they'll have more options for our next.
