I have the spectra and a cheapo off of amazon. To me they both work equally well. I got the spectra because it was free with my insurance and I had heard lots of good reviews!

I have the Medela pump in style. It was free with my insurance and had good reviews. I like it just fine, but it honestly doesn't work great with double pumping. It works great pumping one side at a time.

I strongly suggest the spectra 2! I had the medals pump in style and wasn’t a fan. I heard a lot of great things from friends about the spectra pumps though

I have the spectra and Haaka (to catch let down on the other side im not pumping). It works awesome. I also bought the car adapter so can pump in the car now as well!

medela pump in style. I love that the pump is built into the bag or backpack, motor works well, and the parts are easy to assemble. My insurance gave me an Ameda, and it was horrible. So grateful we had a friend loan me her medela. It was a huge difference.

I had the medela and switched to the spectra S2. I HIGHLY recommend the spectra, it seems so much more efficient!

My insurance covers the medela and I have heard wonderful things about it. However I am a very active person and I really want to look into the willow pump or the freemie just so I can do things and I am not tied to a wall!

My insurance covered the Hygeia EnJoye breast pump, which I have not used nor tried yet of course, nor had I ever heard of before. But from the quick start guide, I think that it will be pretty good. It can be cordless via being charged first. Has the option for pumping one breast or two. I think it will work out well. Also, it came with a hand pump also for a backup. In the past I have used Medela, which was good and most popular, but for the price and how they all seem to work...I think some breast pumps get too much hype when there are plenty of other great breast pump options out there.

Spectra for sure, either one depending on your needs to be plugged in or use a battery. They are so quiet! And I get better output from the Spectra than the Medela.

I suggest the spectra too!

Silicon is a game changer! Check out those kind!

I used the Medela with my first, and went with the Spectra S2 this time. My OB just had a baby last summer and said the Spectra is amazing! I went with it because she said it is quieter than the Medela and works really well. It also has a light if you are pumping at night.

I had my first child 10 years ago, and our hospital did a service where they brought a pump to your house and did all the paperwork there. It was awesome. They gave me a Medela and I loved it. It got me through all 4 of my kids. IT sounds like there are new ones out that I didn't even know about, but I loved the Medela and it did a great job and our insurance covered it.

I swear Medela is the best. My best friend used hers for over 8 years with 4 kids, the last two twins. She only had to replace the tubes once. Even if your insurance doesn't cover it, it's worth using the gift cards to cover.

I've had the spectra and I liked it... does anyone know between Medela and Spectra, which one is more travel-friendly?

Taylor posted this 10 February 2020

I used the Medela In-Style Breast Pump. I'm pregnant now with my second and am going to use the same pump because I loved mine so much. I also used the hand held pump which I got from Target called the Haaka.

Kate posted this 12 February 2020

I've used both the Medela and the Spectra. I personally noticed a difference when I switched to the Spectra and prefer it to the Medela. Additionally, while it is not necessarily a traditional pump, I have heard wonderful things about the Haaka.

I only have experience with Medela. But used it for 1 year for each child and it did the job and never broke. Plus I got it free with my insurance.

I always had a Medela, but I loved it! I've lent it out to friends to use too, so its gone through like 8 pumping babies, but it still works!!

Me too! Love my Medela!

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell us more about the Spectra? I've never heard of it! What did you like better?

I use the medela but never heard of Spectra.  Is it cheaper? or covered by insurance frequently?

Carly posted this 27 February 2020

I used Medela as well. Check with your insurance so you can get a free one. The strong pumps can be rather expensive.

Laquisha posted this 27 February 2020

I second and third the Medela as well. The electric one if you can find it second hand then just buy all the accessories new is best. Get some good bras too!

Yep, second hand Medela double pump all day!

A friend gave me a Medela and it worked well.  I also got a free Ameda through my insurance company and it was of similar quality.  (Drawback to the insurance co. one is that you have to wait until after baby is born to get it).  Having two was soooo helpful though for when I went back to work.  Kept one at the office and one at home.  That way I didn't have to lug it back and forth or worry about forgetting something.

i have the same question on what to get, medela does have a lot of good reviews but i see a lot of moms that are switching to spectra as well.

Danna posted this 23 March 2020

My insurance covered only Lansinoh so I used only that one and it worked ok
