Do any of you take probiotics?  If so, which ones?

Following this! I am looking for recommendations on probiotics as well! I have read that a daily probiotic through pregnancy, and while breastfeeding, is essential!

Just got a recommendation from the midwife for a probiotic, Florajen, and ordered from Amazon. Hope this helps someone!

What are the benefits of the probiotics?

I have tried a few brands and asked the ped about giving them to the baby. Some swear by them and when the baby had thrush I definitely did it but the ped says there isn't any strong research that it helps at all and they aren't sure if there are side effects or issues...

You can do a quick Google search for all of the benefits, but from my point of view and experience it was essential during pregnancy and postpartum. During pregnancy, probiotics clear up all of the bad bacteria in your system. It will prevent UTIs and kidney infections. Postpartum, it is important to take a probiotic when breastfeeding to prevent issues like thrush. A lot of women are given antibiotics intravenously during childbirth, and a probiotic is necessary afterward to prevent thrush. Doctors won't tell you though, or at least mine didn't. My doula was the one that told me, and thank God that she did!

I take the whole foods brand and incorporate natural probiotics into my diet!

During pregnancy I ate a diet of prebiotic and probiotic foods. I am not big into buying supplements. I think they have a placebo effect. I prefer to get nutrients from real, whole foods. You can find a list of prebiotic and probiotic foods, for a healthy gut, by searching Google!

Having  yoghurt is one of the best ways to include Probiotics in your diet. I had yoghurt, buttermilk during pregnancy.

I drink kombucha which has probiotics and eat yogurt. I've been looking for natural probiotics and this thread has given me some good brands to try.

Kombucha is a great probiotic! Some pregnant women may want to use caution when consuming kombucha during pregnancy. Since it is fermented, it does have a small percentage of alcohol. Some women may not want to consume this due to health or religious reasons.

I do. It has been cleared by my midwife. I have a history of chronic BV and yeast infections and I was worried being pregnant would make it worse. I use the CVS brand it is 10 billion and i have not had any issues since i got pregnant and I am 26 weeks.
