My son just turned one a few weeks ago and ever since he was 6 months old I got him to try all sorts of different pureés but that seems to be the ONLY thing he wants. I was going to try baby led weaning but I am scared of him choking or something. But he literally refuses to eat anything other than the pureés! I did get him to eat spaghetti tonight but then again what kid wouldn't eat that... Help guys!

Maybe its just him not being used to solids. Hope it gets easier!

He'll branch out mama!

Maybe he'll grow out of it!

He will come around! Hows he doing now, mama?

Definitely just don't let up! My parents let me eat whatever I wanted as a kid and now I have a really hard time making myself like vegetables.

The purees are a great start. Establishing a palate as a baby takes time and you're doing a great job incorporating different purees to him. I am a very picky eater so I'm hoping my baby doesn't take after me lol.

Babyled weaning takes time. I started with my daughter right off the bat when she turned 6 months. I would highly recommend the book "Babyled weaning." It was super helpful in my journey!

Remember you are doing great! Just keep trying something new everyday.

Just keep offering different things. Eventually they'll start to find things they like and sit with him while you eat the same thing so he wants to try to mimic you.

Just mix up meals in the blender! Then its the same consistency but different flavor? Worth a shot!

Have you tried different combos at the same time? My LO was picky right around 1 too. It seemed that she showed more interest when I went from giving her one food to a variety of foods at one time. Try giving him a small bowl of pureed food and also a small bowl of finely chopped food. Or give him a little bowl with a small layer of quinoa then a puree on top of it. Hope that helps!

Yes, this is a challenge! But your son is still young.  I know this was originally posted over a month ago... how is it going now?

It sounds like you're doing a great job, first of all! Just keep introducing new solid foods to him every day. When they are 1 year old, solid foods are mainly just for fun--to try new things! It's okay if he doesn't like things right away... especially since they are still growing their teeth. Since he likes purees, try to give him food that has that texture but is more solid. Like squash and zucchini. Boil it and cut it up into tiny pieces. It's solid but it's also mushy! Keep trying... he will eventually come around!! 😁
