During the last few weeks of my pregnancy, I found a lump in my left breast that was absolutely terrifying. Luckily, it was just a clogged duct, but it was still scary. I wanted to take a minute to remind everyone to keep up on their breast exams. It can just be a quick check in the shower, but don't skip it! It's important!

I had something very similar happen to me after my first was born. Luckily it turned out to be the same thing, a clogged duct. However it very important not to ignore a lump, ALWAYS go in and get it checked just to make sure.

Is it just me or is insurance written in favor of the insurance provider? Women have to advocate for themselves and (very important) have a good relationship with your MD, find someone you trust. My good friend's MD told her her lumps were probably nothing until over a year went by and then... they were something. It's affecting women at a younger age these days and even shortly after puberty. Mark my words this is one the verge of being an epidemic. Not trying to scare anyone but stay informed, trust your instincts and eat as well as you can.

Always a good reminder!  Especially since most insurances have all kinds of different rules and regulations on when a first mammogram can be done.  It keeps getting later and later in life and then they back it up and change it again.  That's why we need to be vigilant on doing self checks when we're in our 20s.

One final thing is to listen to your body. I had a health situation that I was able to get under control due to early intervention. Know your breasts and learn to listen to yourself. I was only 38 at the time.

Moms... Please remember to follow up after 12 - 18 months. You must be your own advocate. Early detection is key! Trust your intuition if something feels off.

This is SO important for mamas to do! I also found a lump during my first pregnancy. Mine was a benign cyst that was biopsied, but I can't stress enough how important it is to self-check!

Thank you for this! I didn't know to check for clogged ducts!

Yes! This is so important! So many women don't know to take their health in their own hands! Catching a clogged duct early can save you from the nightmare of mastitis as well!

Thank you so much for this! I'm really bad at keeping up on self exams. I'll keep an eye on the ducts. FTM here still figuring out the ins and outs of breastfeeding. Something else to watch for!

Thank you for this reminder!!! I need to get better at doing this. I have had a clogged duct before, and it was super painful. I hope it wasn't as painful for you!
