One of the most priceless things ever is to keep a simple journal of all their interesting and touching remarks and comments.

Even if you only make 4 entries a year it adds up and is fun to look back and reflect on their changing perspectives.

I did a blog for my first child for about 18 months.  I love looking back and reading it. The bonus is that there are pictures with it.

Perhaps keeping a journal in the kitchen or by your bed will make it easier. I literally write in it maybe once per month for less than 5 minutes. You'll know when a funny story comes up that is worth recording. You could even write it on a post it note and transfer it or tape it in your journal later.

This is such a great idea!  I wish I would have started that sooner!

The best time to journal is in snippets right before bedtime. Literally 2 mins of writing once or twice a week. You will not regret it!

I regret not keeping a journal as soon as I got pregnant with my oldest child. I started a journal with my second baby but it's not as thorough as I wish it was. I just have a hard time sticking to the habit of writing in the journal.

One of the best things I ever did was create an email address for my kids before they were born and I will periodically email them pictures and updates and just fun stories of things they did! I can't wait to give them the password when they are older!

I have a book that I write down all the feelings I am feeling postpartum and as my daughter ages. It is full of letters and quotes and thoughts of the day!

I use the TinyBeans app to upload photos and comments daily. It's like a private social network to whomever you give access to so close friends and family can also see everthing and leave comments.

Yes, I agree!  This and photos/videos are my favorite for looking back!  Plus the kids will love it when they are older!

Yes, we started a journal after they babies were a month old!  So glad me did.  We started it as a google document.

When my first one was born, I made her an email account and if she does something cute or I take a good pic I send it to her....I figure I'll give her the password she she's a teenager sometime, she'll have lots of fun mail to read :-) Kind of like a journal

I completely agree with this and have done it for all my kids! Not only  can you yourself reflect on how things went when they are younger, but it would make a wonderful gift to when they are older 😍

I love this idea! I take pictures of my son everyday, and one day I'm going to get them all developed and have my favorites framed. I haven't gotten the chance to buy a keepsake box or anything, but I have a picture box that you hang on the wall, and inside I have his first socks and my sonogram pictures. I try to take pictures and videos of all the cute things my son does. As months pass I love looking back at them. I get emotional but I cant stop him from growing )': lol

What a great idea. I have been guilty of this too, but I am sure there are a lot parents out there who rely on digital technology for those touching reminders.

I have never thought about this. Great idea! I keep a journal for myself so it only makes sense. Thank you for the inspiration!

I agree so much with this! I wish I was more consistent . I did this a lot when I was younger. I do want to journal now especially that I have my daughter. It'll be so awesome to pass these along in the future when she's older no matter how personal I get. It's important for them to know that I went through some of the same things they're probably going through <3

This is such a great idea. After my little one was born, he was such a challenging baby, that I completely forgot about doing any part of the memory book. I just started working on it once he turned 1! This is such a great idea!

Such a great idea! I kept one for my older daughter and love pulling it out sometimes to remember those memories. I wish I had done one for my younger daughter too!

Fiona posted this 07 June 2019

That's a great idea..  I'll keep this in mind for when my baby reaches that age. Sometimes, even now, I think of keeping a journal to record little milestones.

Just this week my son told me he was going to marry me and so told him I was already married to his Dad. He didn’t seem too concerned. That needs to go in as an entry because it was so sweet and funny.
