I did my First with Epidural but second all natural. Would love to know what other women did and which they preferred. I mean of course you would like a no pain birth but for me I think I liked doing natural only because it was so much more different. lol left me crippled afterwards due to her being 9 lbs but I will definitely be doing my third natural this time though.. no Demerol

For my second I wanted to have a natural delivery....a few hours into labor I changed my mind. Haha. I underestimated how painful it is!

I stuck it out for as long as I could, then....EPIDURAL came. I also had to due a emergency c section.

Kati posted this 15 January 2019

I did natural for my third...it’s not for the faint of heart!

lauren posted this 15 January 2019

I did not do a natural birth but I recently found out that I was a natural birth which is pretty cool .

I had an epidural. I have a very low pain tolerance unfortunately

Courtney posted this 15 January 2019

I had an epidural for all 3 of mine, but all 3 deliveries were very different.  For my first, I had a hotspot on my back where I could still feel all of the contractions.  So the anesthesiologist gave me EXTRA epidural.  My whole lower half was completely numb, and I couldn't really help push at all.  I had no idea if I was or wasn't pushing.  With my second, the epidural took better, and I could still feel the contractions and pressure to help push.  My second was a MUCH better experience.  But I don't know if I have the moxy to have a delivery without an epidural at all.  I applaud you mamas that have natural child births!

I labored really quickly and managed to go all natural like I wanted! It was horribly painful but so worth it!

Natural is definitely a challenge but I prefer it over anything else!

I personally planned to get an epidural, I have a terrible pain tolerance.

Chera posted this 16 January 2019

I plan on an epidural as well.  I have a low pain tolerance and really can't fathom doing that without some medicine to help.  I fully applause all of you mommas that go all natural...I think it is fantastic (just not for me)!!

Kayleigh posted this 16 January 2019

Kudos to everyone that can do it natural! I had an epidural

Destiny posted this 16 January 2019

I had an epidural and was pretty sure I would not have had it any other way!

Kimberly posted this 17 January 2019

I definitely plan on having an epidural.  I am not a tough person.  If a whole human will be coming out of my body, I will have to be medicated!

I’m going into labor very open minded, whatever happens happens.

Maggie posted this 17 January 2019

I went all natural but idek if it was worth it lol, i wanted the epi so bad

Nicole posted this 25 January 2019

We are going for all natural.  I'm starting a class on it next week per the recommendation of my OB.  He said I need to be committed and fully understand the process and how to get through the pain.

Meagan posted this 27 January 2019

I had an epidural because my pain tolerance is TERRIBLE lol. I would want to try to wait it out a bit longer next time tho, just to see what I can handle

Megan posted this 27 January 2019

I had four natural births! With my first they gave me a muscle relaxer and I fell asleep and woke up dilated and ready to push. It was a long labor though. I would say each successive labor was a little more painful but each was also quicker. My second boy was born face up which meant more pushing and hurt a lot. My third was born at 36 weeks and my water stayed intact all the way up until time to push so the pain was manageable. (In my experience the pain always intensified after my water broke.) My fourth was a pretty quick labor and uneventful. Very blessed and thankful. I would do it again but 4 is more than enough LOL.

Madi posted this 28 January 2019

I went natural, mostly because they didn't have time to do an epidural because I progressed so fast. I survived it but wish I had had an epidural 😂

Rebekah posted this 13 February 2019

Semi-natural with my first. It ended up being a 22-hour long labor. If that wasn't crazy enough I decided to do it again. That time was natural and it went fairly fast at 7 hours total. The third time was also natural and way faster than the first two. It's definitely a personal choice and I think I actually surprised myself at how much pain I can actually handle.

I am nervous to do a natural birth!  I think I have a high pain tolerance but you never know until you are in there lol.  I have scoliosis so not sure if they can even do an epidural yet.  I will be asking the doctor once I get further along in the pregnancy.

Melissa posted this 18 February 2019

I had 3 natural births and a c section. We're done having kids and if I were to go back I would have done an epidural. You don't have anything to prove to anyone, do what you feel like you need to do and don't worry about anyone else!

Nicole posted this 19 February 2019

I wasn’t able to do the epidural in any of my birth deliveries due to my platelets being low. I went all natural in my first pregnancy and my second I had medicine put in thru th IV bag.

Cheri posted this 04 May 2019

Epidural all the way!! I went 12 painful hours without one I will never go through that again

Valerie posted this 06 May 2019

I didn’t have an epidural with mine. I begged for it, but they thought I had more time than I actually did, so they took their time telling the anesthesiologist. I was shocked and kept asking if I heard them correctly that I wouldn’t have time for the epidural. The worst part was the contractions. I would do it again.

Grace posted this 06 May 2019

Epidural with both. I was having such bad anxiety both times, and I knew that I would freak out really bad. My mom had told me a story about how she closed her legs on my brother as he was coming out because it was so painful! She scared the crap out of me with that, so I stuck to an epidural. Nothing wrong with it.

Rebecca posted this 07 May 2019

I attempted a natural but needed up with a csection so I had an epidural. I went 26 hours without one though

Kate posted this 12 February 2020

I am 100% all for natural childbirth when possible. I recognize that certain medical emergencies do occur and some women are unable to deliver naturally and vaginally, but when possible it is the way to go. I've heard too many stories of contractions slowing, labor stalling, babies spending too much time in the birth canal, etc. from numbing effects of epidurals. I experienced two natural childbirths and plan to do it again for future babies. My labors were quick, effective, and resulted in a super fast recovery for me.

HUGE fan of natural birth. So many benefits including easier delivery, less complications, quicker delivery, quicker recovery, easier bonding/latching...the list goes on! If you're able to, definitely go this route!

Heather posted this 16 February 2020

I tried to go all natural but just couldn't. My doctor laughed at me and said I lasted far longer than she did and she said there's nothing wrong with having an epidural. They are safe and effective. I felt better as soon as I got one and was able to relax.

Lacy posted this 16 February 2020

I got the juice. That's what I call it. I was almost 7 wide when I got it. It's because the doctor came in and popped the water. Things got real quick. I am glad I did. Wish I had taken it when she first offered. Do what's right for you and don't worry. I've seen healthy babies born both ways. Good luck! You've got this!

Gina posted this 18 February 2020

I did both... I wish I would have been natural all the time but I am a huge pain wimp and was scared of feeling it... so I got it done with every birth. It made labor a breeze! Each kid also got bigger and bigger... #1 was 6 pounds, #2 was 7 pounds, and #3 was 8 pounds... #4 would have been a 9 pounder...

Kacie posted this 18 February 2020

I did all natural, and will be again. I do not understand the need for an epidural, unless something is wrong.

Hilda posted this 18 February 2020

I had an epidural. I have a nerve disorder and my doctor recommended the shot to keep me from passing out.

lyndi posted this 18 February 2020

I've done both as well! I have quick labors so I prefer the natural method because I can feel it better and I've recovered better.  BUT that is because I go quick. If I was pushing for hours I think I would feel differently. ha!

I'm hoping I'm strong enough to have a natural childbirth. I'm hoping for a water birth.
