What type of BC has worked out for you so far?

I used the pill for a long time. Then after my daughter was born, I dont know if I was more in tune with my body or what. But the BC just wasnt working for me. I could feel myself changing, like I was moody and bloated all the time. So eventually I got off of it and we just use condoms. Not my fave but it works.

Kris posted this 25 August 2018

I'm with Melissa, I couldnt do the birth control after giving birth. It just made me feel different. I couldnt explain it. So I stopped taking int.

Courtnee posted this 26 August 2018

I was using the Mirena IUD. I know it's controversial, but it worked for me.

Lawanda posted this 26 August 2018

I'll be using the pill. It never gave me problems, but I know that's unusual.

Hadiza posted this 26 August 2018

The pull out method has worked so far! And sometimes condoms. I am not a fan of the pills or IUD's. I know pulling out is viewed as not being so reliable but it has worked for us so far.

Hadiza, I’m with you on that! My husband and I use the same method! I’m honestly not a fan of birth control pills. When I was younger I was on them and I tried many kinds but each one I had bad side effects, so to me it wasn’t worth it. Too much suffering. With the pull out method we say, if it happens, it happens lol

After giving birth I use the pill for awhile to get my period back on track and from there we just use condoms.

I just went off a generic birth control that my dr recommended. No real side effects other than moodiness! Thinking about trying to conceive again.

Janet posted this 29 August 2018

I want to know some other types that have worked for people. The pill is no good for me I always forget! I had Mirena IUD and it was fine. The first 5 years were ok then I had it replaced and had a lot of cramping. Now I am back to the pill which is basically pointless.

I've heard the implant is NOT good if you suffer from anxiety or depression (anxiety for me) so I am scared to do that. They won't let me go back to an IUD for a while until they believe everything has healed like 2 years!!

Kelly posted this 29 August 2018

I've been on the pill (Junel) and it worked for us. Right now we're TTC so I'm off it but I honestly miss my skin cooperating a bit more. Discuss it with your doctor and they can give you a run down of all your options. I've always been curious about the shot, but I'm not a needle person so that's out the window.

Abby posted this 30 August 2018

I used lo-estran birth control pill. It worked for me because of the low levels. It helped regulate my period as well. No real mood swings either.

hannah posted this 31 August 2018

Condoms. I know, I hate them so much but my body doesn't do well with any other birth control. I have my reservations with them. Ive seen them do more damage in the long run to your body and fertility than good

The pill. I stick to a routine with taking it (right after a brush my teeth at night) and don't have any issues. I had unpredictable periods and bad cramps before so it's been a welcome relief. I haven't had any side effects that I can think of. I'll be going off of it soon to start the TTC process. Hoping my period doesn't come back with a vengeance!

Katie posted this 02 September 2018

I used the pill for probably 7 years. It became where they made me feel sick (like morning sickness) and so cranky. Aftery daughter I've used the ring and I'm happy with it. So far no issues or unplanned pregnancies!

Hannah posted this 19 September 2018

The generic brand my dr prescribed me had always been the best. I think a doctors recommendation is the best to follow. So far that is where I have the best of luck. I used a pill brand called aveeno I think. It was free under insurance and I didn't have any problems.

Jackie posted this 21 September 2018

I use that also...what is the controversy if you don't mind me asking?

I was using the Mirena IUD. I know it's controversial, but it worked for me.

Jackie posted this 21 September 2018

I use an IUD right now, no issue with pregnancy, but I'm considering getting off all BC and using condoms for now. I've been talking with a lot of couples....husbands too! They are convinced BC is throwing their body (women obviously) out of whack! I think there could be truth to that ...I just don't know what to think about this sometimes!

Michelle posted this 30 September 2018

I have always used the pill and have not had any problems yet. Hopefully it will continue to work for me! Of course, as with most things, it all depends on your body and what works best for you.

Hannah posted this 09 October 2018

I just use pills. They have always seemed to work well and never give me any bad side effects, etc.

Kimberly posted this 14 October 2018

At the beginning i used pills before my first daughter and forgot to take one and got pregnant and then i also tried the shot thats every three months but i had an inconsistent period that would last me up to 15 days. It also made me gain weight and gave me lots of mood swings so i switch to the Paragar IUD and had it for almost 5 years before i decided to remove it to get pregnant again. It worked wonders. 😀

Tammy posted this 24 October 2018

I'm using the pill, but eventually would like to not use any birth control due to side effects.

Terri posted this 24 October 2018

Pull out and pray method.  Haha!  The pill made me feel so awful when I was on it (grumpy and sick at my stomach) so I got off of it.  I'm scared to try the IUD but most research shows it works.  You just want something that works for you without making you feel different.  Your doctor should be able to send you in the right direction.

Sara posted this 25 October 2018

I use the pill and I don't have any weird side effects from it.  I can see why some do though since there is an influx of estrogen with the pill.  Talk to your OB about what all is out there.  You know they have all kinds of pamphlets and reading material for while you wait on them!!

My sister uses the IUD and says it is the best bc she doesn't have to worry about making sure to take a pill everyday!

IUD and Nuvaring,

Kate posted this 28 October 2018

Pills seem to work best for me. I tried the Mirena IUD, but I had a bad reaction to it. The Nexplanon insert gave me the heebie jeebies. But I think that's the moral of the story: talk to your doctor and find out what works best for you. Everyone's body is different.

grace posted this 31 October 2018

I use the pill and I love it! Also the pull out method lol 😝

Renee posted this 01 November 2018

I have always been on the pill. It's  such a part of my routine that now I take my vitamins at that time instead of my pill.

Never had an issue. Always helped regulate things and keep my uterus vacant 😂 😄

Liliana posted this 02 November 2018

I was on Junel without issue before we decided to start a family. It's a daily pill. It regulated my period and cleared up some acne problems I've had since high school.

Winnie posted this 09 November 2018

I was on the pill for six years and didn't get pregnant. I've been off about two months and we're TTC 😃

Janessa posted this 12 November 2018

Guilty!! I am pregnant with my second due to the good-old pull out method. I have already discussed getting my tubes tied after this one.

I just used the pill.  I got off  of it for a solid six months before we started trying.  I'm not sure I'm going back to that so this thread is a great read for me.  I'm considering the IUD next.

Jean posted this 12 November 2018

I actually use the copper IUD, and I don't know anyone else that has other than my mom back in the day.  I know it's kind of old-school but it doesn't have hormones and doesn't rely on my scrambled brain remembering to take it.  So far it works great.

Ashley posted this 13 November 2018

I tried every pill on the market after I had my daughter. They made me  SO hormonal at the end of each month. My husband and I were fighting all the time. I ended up making the decision to quit birth control and I currently don't take any.

Kyah posted this 14 November 2018

The pill has always made me feel like crap so after I give birth I’d like to try the shot!

I use the rhythm method and it's worked great, but my cycles are super regular so it might not work if yours aren't.

Kelly posted this 14 November 2018

I highly recommend to IUD.  It has the least sacrifice and greatest control of preventing pregnancy.

Meg posted this 21 November 2018

My doctor told me, in the small chance that a sperm does fertilize an egg, the IUD will stop it from implanting. If you believe like we do, that life begins at conception, then it's considered abortion. It is absolutely your choice though and something to consider carefully

I use that also...what is the controversy if you don't mind me asking?

I was using the Mirena IUD. I know it's controversial, but it worked for me.

Meg posted this 21 November 2018

We used the pull-out method between babies until our surprise pregnancy with #4 so after him we have strictly used condoms. No glove no love! They are annoying but we like to experiment with different kinds and try to make it fun I was on the pill before #1 but never went back to it.

Jasmine posted this 16 January 2019

The implant hasn't given me any side effects, and it's great because I'm awful at remembering to take pills

Tiana posted this 17 January 2019

I tried the shot at two weeks post and it was literal hell. It made me so dizzy and tired. Would not recommend

Shannon posted this 17 January 2019

I had a bad experience with BC pills, and my husband and I have just used condoms ever since.  We haven't had any issues.  I guess I'm lucky I have a husband who doesn't mind.  I hear from alot of my girlfriends that their husbands refuse to use condoms.

Maggie posted this 17 January 2019

I think i’m just going to go back to the pill honestly

Nicole posted this 25 January 2019

Condoms.  I think that BC isn't good for your body and messes with with our hormones way too much.  There just isnt anything natural about it.

Megan posted this 27 January 2019

That's what we use too. My youngest is 7, it's worked for us so far.

Before getting pregnant I used the pill and I hated it because I would forget to take it and then have to double up. I had also used the Nuva Ring but my insurance stopped covering it. I had the IUD and spotted for 6 months so I gave up. Back on the Nuva ring and I love it but I am thinking about getting off and seeing if my hormones are better balanced.
