Hi ladies,

I will be having my first baby shower soon and I want to create a baby registry. When looking at all the baby and mommy items that are available, I become overwhelmed and I want to make sure I get all the necessary things I will need. What are must have items I will need when my baby comes?

Don’t go over board. A lot of these registry sites will overwhelm you. Just make sure you have the essentials i.e Diapers, wipes, onesies, pajamas, hygiene stuff, growing stuff etc.

Go in person! A lot of places will give you a checklist when you register there, which really helps you to know what you should be including!

One recommendation: A Boppy!!! They come in handy and are life savers!

The one thing I regretted spending money on: wiper warmer. So unnecessary and I ended up just using it for storing wipes and didn't even plug it in 90% of the time

I feel like you don't need to register for a ton of baby toiletries - they use such small amounts and you may find one brand works better than others (IE diaper cream) and you don't want to get stuck with a ton you won't use. When people asked what we could really use, I'd always say diapers and wipes!

I agree! Diapers, wipes, burp cloths, onesies, and blankets! Everything else will come. I only put the big items on the registry if I knew that someone in my family wanted to buy it. Sometimes though, putting everything on there is a good idea because some places will give you a percentage off of your unpurchased items afterward.

ask for books instead of cards they can write a note in the cover

I recommend lots of onsies (plain undershirt ones) and tons of burp clothes.

Diapers, bibs, and socks. My boy went through so many of those his first year, I'm not even sure how we made it through.

Also, keep track of who gave you what items. This way, a year later you can them another thank you letter, letting them know what happened with the item.

I would say to register for a car seat, bottle set, crib sheet set, onesies, a baby swing or bouncer, stroller, and diapers and wipes!

I agree they are going to overwhelm you. Make sure your baby has enough clothes, diapers, crib bassinet, and baby toiletries (diaper rash cream and baby bath stuff). My two girls spit up a lot as infants so I stocked up on burp cloths.

Yes! Plus going in person is more fun, in my opinion!

I agree a boppy pillow is awesome, whether you decide to breastfeed or bottle feed you are still going to get your use out of it.

My favorites so far: swaddling blankets, lots of wipes/diapers/, rocker/bouncer, and baby monitor.

I agree with this one 100% An unnecessary item. Much better off going with a way diaper and wipe storage caddy or something that is actually useful.

Thank you ladies for your feedback. This helps a lot. I think I will go in person to complete the registration.

Diapers, wipes, onesies and gowns, nipple cream, boppy, zipper sleepers and I feel like everything else will be clothes given to you. Blankets will be given as well. But those first things are the necessities.

I agree with all of the above, I also recommend the mammaroo. It's amazing and it's the only thing my daughter would sleep in alone. She loved it

I recommend putting in a baby carrier! Not the infantino one though but a nice one like the Lillebaby carrier or Ergo. Baby wraps like the boba are especially great for the first few months too.

I was overwhelmed at first too until I went to Target with a friend. Just scan everything!
